About
Michael A. Ruka began shooting photography in early 2005. He learned many photography concepts as well as darkroom technique under the guidance of Mike and Kathy Sampon. From 2006-2008 he photographed primarily architecture as part of a two year International Baccalaureate program. Ruka is currently a Mass Communication-Advertising major and Professional Studies-Aerial Photography Minor at Winona State University. In the Summer of 2011, he plans to earn his Private Pilot certificate from the FAA and begin shooting aerial photos. In the summer of 2010, Ruka had the opportunity to travel to Dine’ College on the Navajo Reservation to shoot many photos, and tell the story of John Kinsel, Sr. a Navajo code-talker from WWII. Photos from that trip are available at http://www.masscommunimania.blogspot.com/. Ruka continues to shoot photography in his spare time. He currently uses a Canon 5D Mark II.
